Took our Youth (14 of them) to a Winter Jam Concert this past Thursday.  Had a really good time.  10 bands for 10 bucks. Skillet, Barlow Girl, Purenrg, Steven Curtis Chatman, and several others.  We got home about 12:30 a.m.

Saturday and Sunday we had special meetings at the Corps.  A retired territorial evangelist (Major Ed Jarvis) was our guest.  He is an illusionist, so he was wowing all of us, as he brought his gospel message.  The kids and adults really seemed to enjoy his ministry.

This week we have our annual property inspection, so have been giving the house an extreme clean.  It's my spring cleaning in the winter.

Saturday, I take off for Chicago.  Get to spend about a day and half with Paula, before going onto fulfill my duties on the Officer Forum at THQ next week. (the equivalent of TOAC in the south)

Our corps youth group is planning to attend our Youth Congress in June.  We have started some fundraising to raise money for the trip.  One of the fundraisers is done on-line.  So don't be surprised to get an email from me, asking you to look at a website and make a purchase to support our youth group.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Need to go for now.  Need to clean some more before I turn in for the night.

Blessings on all my friends!

I hope I don't give anyone a heart attack when they see that I have finally posted an update!  Needless to say, much has happened during my silent time (me, silent - that's an amusing thought!). > Let's see, where to begin...... > In April, a 9 mos. old addition came into our family.  His name is Bubba, and he is a white boxer.  Now, staying with our tradition of adopting pets with disabilities, Bubba is deaf.  It has been interesting teaching him sign language commands.  He has adjusted into our family well, and brings us much joy.  I will post pictures. While it looks like he has spots, he is solid white, the "spots" are freckles on his skin. By the way, Bubba is officially H's dog. > In August, P left the nest and entered Training College.  She is doing well, and we all have adjusted to her being gone.  However, we talk to each other frequently.  Oh, how I love unlimited cell phone minutes! > Near the end of August, we adopted another dog as a companion for Bubba.  Her name is Zoey and she is a Rhodesian Ridgeback/boxer mix.  She was born in rescue and remained there for 3 years.  I don't understand why no one wanted this sweet dog.  The rescue group gave her to us because they were so glad she was getting a home.  Zoey is my dog, and has become very protective of me.  She is my guardian when I have to be in our corps building alone, or when H and B are gone from home.  Will post pictures of her too. >  We are still in Evansville, IN.  This is our longest appointment, and we anticipate to stay here at least through B's Senior year next year.  Gee, B could graduation, P could be commissioned, we could become Majors, and be under farewell orders all in a matter of a couple of weeks, ugh!  I don't even want to think about it!! >  We are very happy here, have a great ministry in the corps and in the community.  We have seen God do amazing things in this appointment and enjoy watching Him work!  Christmas was busy (as it is everywhere), but we made our goal and served many families. . Well, I guess that's probably enough for now.  Blessings to each of you!scan0007 bubba blue chair       100_2862

Spring Break!  That used to mean vacation time.  Now it means I have one child that it doesn't affect (since she graduated) and one child that it does.  But instead of vacation time as a family, he has taken a vacation from his immediate family and gone to his grandparent's for the week!  >  I'm starting to cut those "ties" to my children and finding out that it's not an easy thing to do.  >  We are looking forward to special Holy Week services at our Corps this next week.  We have a "guest" speaker each night.  >  Also beginning a Dance Ministry Team with some of our young ladies in the corps.  Our first performance is the Benediction on Easter Sunday.  they have been practising hard.  I know that God will use their ministry to bless someone in a special way.  They are excited about some other ministry opportunities that are coming up in the near future - Divisional Music Day; Corps Annual Meeting; Community Summer Fun Day.  Please keep this group of young ladies in your prayers.  >  Our youth have been studying Galatians 5:19-23 recently.  I gave them this challenge, now I leave the same challenge with you.  When you wake up tomorrow morning, try the joyful phrase "Good Morning, GOD!" it may jumpstart your day with a Joyful attitude.  Just a thought!  Look for the blessings God has for you today!

Our Christian Prom was a SUCCESS!!  78 in attendance (our corps kids, 2 other church groups, friends of our corps kids, and chaparones).  Everyone had such a great time! > The last few days though, Satan has tried to attack our efforts with our youth. > Out of that attack, God has reminded me that we may get bruised in the battle, but the Victory is ours because He has won the war. >  We all need to be reminded of that at times.  I thought I would share it because I know that many of you may also be experiencing bruises from the battles.  Just remember that God is faithful and when we trust in Him, victory is assured! > The Holy Spirit brought to mind this scripture, and I want to share it - "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken.  We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.  We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.  Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. ... For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long.  Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen.  For troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever." - 2 Corinthians 4:8-10, 17-18 (NLT) >

May those Words speak to you today, as they spoke to me!  Blessings on you, my friends!

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with multi-tasking.  I know, as an officer, it's natural to multi-task, and most of the time I'm good at it.  However, sometimes it short circuits my little brain.  One of these days, I'm going to get my tasks confused and prepare a program that makes no sense. Right now, I'm finalizing the prep for the Christian Prom that is a week from Saturday (please keep this event in your prayers).  I'm planning the Sundays during the Lent & Easter Season (we always try to make this time of year really special), H is doing most of the preaching, but I'm working on the worship, Lent Readings, etc.  I'm also on the planning comittee for Women's Camp, I have a Seminar to plan and teach (Out Your Spout) and also am responsible for creating a Prayer Walk.  The theme is Living Graciously (using a sub-theme of Tea, Tea Cups, Tea Pots, etc).  And of course, there are all the "normal" (did I just use that word) activities and business of the corps.  I really love my ministry, it just sometimes makes my head spin trying to keep up with everything, I'm glad I don't have to do all this in my own strength!! > It's quiet in our house right now.  B is at Drivers Ed class and P is working. > "May the Lord bless you and protect you.  May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace." - Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)
